DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming holiday season feature Rise of the Guardians was well-received at the Cannes Film Festival, during their big press event designed to drum up support for the movie. It wasn’t surprising, since DreamWorks head Jeffrey Katzenberg has already made a habit out of launching his big projects at Cannes for the past few years, with each one being met with positive approval. This will continue later this week as DreamWorks screens Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted as well.
Together with director Peter Ramsey, and voice cast members Alec Baldwin, Chris Pine, and Isla Fiser, Katzenberg treated the audience to 25 minutes of the CG movie, followed by a Q & A session with the director and cast.
Based on the series of books by Oscar winning producer and author William Joyce, Rise of the Guardians tells the story of a team of heroes made up of childhood folk figures, such as Santa Claus (Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), The Sandman, Tooth Fairy (Fisher), who must band together in order to save the world from the Boogey Man (Jude Law)
Rise of the Guardians will open in November this year.
