Rocket Pictures has chosen Mikros Image to manage digital animation work for MGM Pictures and Paramount Animation’s Sherlock Gnomes, which is a follow-up to the animated feature Gnomeo and Juliet.
The new Mikros Animation studio in London and Mikros Paris will share animation duties with top talents around the world being recruited for the production. Sherlock Gnomes is directed by Oscar nominee and Annie Award winner John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda). It is an action-adventure detective fiction set in London where Gnomeo and Juliet turn to be Sherlock Gnomes in order to solve an important case.
The animation is produced by Carolyn Soper (Tangled production executive) and Steve Hamilton Shaw (Gnomeo and Juliet), together with David Furnish and Sir Elton John, who were also the producers of the previous gnome flick. Karen de Jong serves as the production designer, Eric Leighton is the animation director, Rob Stevenhagen is the head of the story team and Freddy Chaleur returns as VFX supervisor.
