A new Rurouni Kenshin manga has just started in monthly manga magazine Jump SQ alongside Claymore, D.Gray-Man, and Blue Exorcist. Entitled Rurouni Kenshin – Kinema Version, the reboot will feature a clean new art style from original manga-ka Nabuhiro Watsuki.
Those who are wishing for a continuation of the manga or anime’s story may be disappointed since the new series is a reboot. Rurouni Kenshin – Kinema Version will be a retelling of the original story, starting from Kenshin’s encounter of Kaoru and his eventual residence at the Kamiya Dojo.
You’ll see most of the familiar faces from the original, but the story will have subtle and not so subtle changes. According to rumors, the reboot will follow the story of the upcoming live-action movie, as a way of drumming up interest (for the movie, but may also affect sales for the original manga and anime in a positive way).
