The popular music-driven superhero podcast The Secret Diaries of Tara Tremendous will be getting its own animated series via Wonkybot Studios, hot on the heels of its successful season one podcast. The animated series will be targeted towards children aged 4 to 8, and will be released in conjunction with the six episode season two debut of the podcast on iTunes.
Tara Tremendous follows the bubbly, brave, and headstrong 8-year-old Tara Callahan, who has been accidentally blessed with the powers of every known superhero in the world. Each episode’s story focuses on how the little heroine-to-be discovers and learns to use a new power while dealing with issues relevant to young kids. The stories come with lessons about self-confidence, kindness, friendship, and empowerment.
“The audience’s reaction to the first season of Tara Tremendous was, and continues to be awesome, confirming we made the right decision to launch the character in a podcast in order to build awareness,” said Wonkybot CEO St John, who writes and directs each episode, composes all the original songs, co-scored the soundtrack with musical partner Plahuta, and voices the character of Dr. Epic. “Tara is a little girl with a huge heart and a lot of guts, who is spirited, determined and eventually becomes a hero who is as strong as she is sweet. Right now the world needs role models for young kids, and Tara, who has already engaged thousands of fans, is a positive influence.”
The first season of The Secret Diaries of Tara Tremendous holds a record of over 50,000 downloads in a day, and at one point ranking #6 overall. Its success also led to various brand extensions, such as a musical album that collects the songs from the first season, titled The Secret Diaries of Tara Tremendous: Songs From A Superhero World, which will debut in August alongside an album consisting of the original score, and a middle grade book franchise due out in September.
