SheZow Premieres on The Hub this June
The Hub continues its drive to bolster their programming lineup by launching a new animated action comedy series titled SheZow on June 1, Saturday. The show will be launched side by side with live action hit Wizards vs. Aliens, which is the newest offering from former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies.
Premiering on the 12:30 pm ET timeslot, SheZow is a 2D animated toon that focuses on a 12 year old boy named Guy Hamdon, who sees himself as the epitome of manliness, going so far as to coin his own catchphrase: It’s a GUY thing. Unfortunately for the young man, he discovers a magical ring that can transform its bearer into a very powerful superhero on the condition that it was meant to be worn by a girl. This means when he transforms, he dons a costume meant for a girl. Going by the nom de guerre SheZow, Guy Hamdon starts fighting crime with his bossy twin sister Kelly, and his sidekick Maz.
The half hour series was created and written by Obie Scott Wade. Lois Kramer Lunsford, Jason Netter, Gillian Carr, Huoi Seong Low, Brenda Wooding and Wade are all credited as executive producers. Production is done by Kickstart Prod. and Moody Street Kids with partners Film Victoria and Vision Animation and is distributed by DHX Media.
