Sony Acquires Knights of Valour
This week, Sony Pictures has acquired Spanish theatrical rights to the upcoming 3D CG animated film Justin and the Knights of Valour, which is directed by Oscar nominated filmmaker Manuel Sicilia and produced by Antonio Banderas’ Green Moon production outfit.
Sony’s acquisition of Knights of Valour continues Antonio Banderas’ lucky streak in the animation industry, having enjoyed recent successes with DreamWorks’ Shrek Franchise, Puss in Boots and The Missing Linx, which were both produced by his Green Moon production company.
Co-produced with Spanish studio Kandor Graphics and Kerry Furton, Justin and the Knights of Valour follows the titular boy whose dreams of becoming a full fledged knight does not coincide with the skills, both physical and mental, he has at his disposal. The film will be distributed by Timeless Films outside of Spain, with Sony planning to release the feature (with a total budget of $28 million) in August 2013.
