Space Jam Gets Blu-Ray Treatment for Its 20th Anniversary

As Space Jam turns 20 years this year, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment releases a new Blu-ray Combo Pack in steelbook packaging on November 15 to celebrate its milestone.

The classic animation-live action hybrid flick stars 6-time NBA champion Michael Jordan together with Warner Bros.’ classic Looney Tunes gang in a sports showdown. The action starts as Bugs Bunny kidnaps Jordan is from his live-action world to outsmart a gang of space creatures by pretending to be a can’t-lose ringer in a basketball game in order to save the cartoon characters from a wicked kidnapping scheme.

The movie starred Theresa Randle, Wayne Knight and the voice of Danny DeVito together with appearances by Larry Bird, Bill Murray, Patrick Ewing and Charles Barkley. Directed by Joe Pytka and produced by Ivan Reitman, Space Jam won a Grammy for original song ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ by R. Kelly and an Annie Award for Best Individual Achievement: Technical Achievement.

Aside from the classic film, the Blu-ray Combo Pack (SRP $19.98) also include annotations from Bugs Bunny (Billy West), director Joe Pytka and Daffy Duck (Dee Bradley Baker); music videos with the Monstars anthem Hit ‘Em High performed by B-Real, Coolio, Busta Rhymes, Method Man and LL Cool J, and Seal’s cover of Fly Like an Eagle and Jammin featurette with Bugs Bunny and Jordan.
