Spider-Man, Ted, and Merida Dominate the Box Office
This past weekend saw the triumvirate of The Amazing-Spiderman, Ted, and Brave dominate the box office, bringing huge blockbuster numbers that no doubt brought a smile to the studio execs and shareholders’ faces.
First, Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man reboot proved to be as successful as everyone expected, with the comic book movie landing on the top spot with a $140 million take (during its 6-day opening), which brings its total worldwide cume to $341.2 million.
Next up is Seth MacFarlane’s raunchy, talking stuffed toy Ted, which made $32.6 during its second week, making its 10 day domestic total more than $120.2 million, added to the $13.1 million take from Australia and Taiwan’s respective openings.
Third is Disney/Pixar’s Brave, which proved to be the third most popular movie at the box office with a $20.2 million added to its domestic earnings, bringing its total take to $174.5 during its third weekend.
