Spielberg to Exec Produce Halo TV Series

Spielberg to Exec Produce Halo TV Series

Steven Spielberg will be executive producing a live action TV series based on the massively popular video game franchise from Microsoft, Halo. The series will feature exclusive interactive Xbox One content that is created with help from 343 Industries and Xbox Entertainment Studios, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

Released by Bungie back in 2001, Halo was a first person shooter that focuses on an interstellar war between humanity and an alliance of aliens known as the Covenant. Majority of the games puts the player in the role of Master Chief John-117, who is a cybernetically enhanced human super soldier aided by an AI companion named Cortana.

A film adaptation of the Halo franchise has been rumored before, but even with a script supposedly penned by Alex Garland and with Neill Blomkamp as director, the project has yet to materialize. There is an anime series based on the property, though. Titled Halo Legends, the series was created by Bones, Casio, Production I.G., Studio 4°C, and Toei Animation.
