Spike & Mike Festival Turns 30 This Year
The Spike & Mike Festival of Animation will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year, and will once again showcase some of the most popular and award-winning short animations from the festival’s long history. The festival will feature early works by acclaimed Disney-Pixar director Ralph Eggleston along with more than 10 other Academy Award-winning or nominated shorts.
The 30th Spike & Mike Festival will be held at the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla, California from February 9 to March 22 and will be open to audience of all ages. Spike & Mike’s Festival features indie, experimental, and foreign toons since it was launched in 1986, and was responsible for premiering early work from the likes of Mike Judge, Nick Park, Tim Burton, as well as Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
“To celebrate 30 years we’ve scoured the world to build the grandest show that I’ve ever presented and quite possibly that ever could be presented. Period,” said Spike.
