Image Comics published 23 issues of Super Dinosaur between 2011 and 2014. The concept for the series was originally conceived after artist Jason Howard sketched a super hero-looking Tyrannosaurus Rex for his young son. Kirkman then thought about a Rex controlling larger robotic arms with its tiny ones. From there, a new book was born aimed at both kids and their parents.
The 26 x 22-minute animated series is produced by Spin Master Entertainment and Skybound Entertainment, with animation handled by Atomic Cartoons. It debuted in Canada on Teletoon on September 8th. The show has been adapted for television by Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt. Deven Mack stars as the titular Super Dinosaur, while Valin Shinyei voices his best bud Derek Dynamo. Spin Master presented the show at MIPCOM earlier this month, with an international roll-out for both the show and mobile game expected to occur in 2019.
