Warner Bros. Animation has just released more information about their upcoming DC Universe Animation Original Movie, Superman: Unbound. The movie is slated for a May 7 DVD and Blu-Ray release, and is based on the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank 2008 yan titled Superman: Braniac. Superman: Unbound is rated PG-13 and will be offered as a Blu-Ray combo pack for $24.98 and as DVD for $19.98. The epic will also be offered via VOD and Digital.
Superman: Unbound focuses on the last son of Krypton handling his day to day responsibilities fighting crime and managing Lois Lane’s expectations for their relationship, all the while helping Supergirl adjust to Earth’s customs. A routine that is turned upside on its head when the terrifying force responsible for the destruction of Krypton – Braniac – starts his descent upon Earth in order to focus on Metropolis. It will take everything Superman has in order to protect his city, the love of his life, and his newly arrived cousin.
The Superman: Unbound Combo Pack will offer a sneak peek at the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. It will also include the featurette “Kandor: History of the Bottle City” and “Braniac: Technology and Terror,” as well as audio commentary from Mike Carlin, Bob Goodman and James Tucker, four bonus episodes from Superman: The Animated Series (“The Last Son of Krypton, Part 1”; “New Kids in Town”; and “Little Girl Lost, Parts 1 & 2”), all handpicked by producer Alan Burnett, and a cool digital comic—an excerpt from the graphic novel Superman: Brainiac by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank.
