SXSW Welcomes the New Powerpuff Girls
Buttercup, Bubbles and Blossoms are coming back to the small screen with a new series that is set to premiere on Cartoon Network on April 4, Monday at 6 p.m. ET/PT. To start off the super heroic girls’ return, a fan-centric world premiere event will happen on March 14 at South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. The event includes pre-party, screening and a parade with giant Powerpuff Girl balloons. Same events will follow in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
The April 4 television premiere of back-to-back episodes will be followed by 2 weeks of exciting episodes broadcasting Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. before the girls settle on their regular time slot starting on April 21 (Thursdays, 6 p.m.).
The Powerpuff Girls follows the adventure of the superhero sisters Buttercup, Bubbles and Blossoms who are always busy juggling school, homework and fighting evil villains who are bowed on destroying Townsville.
The new series is based on the original and two-time Emmy winning series created by Craig McCracken. It is produced by Cartoon Network Studios together with Nick Jennings (SpongeBob SquarePants, Adventure Time) as executive producer and Bob Boyle (Wow! Wow! Wubbzy) as co-executive producer.
