TCM to Planning 75th Anniversary Screening of Snow White
Turner Classic Movies, along with the official Disney fanmag D23 will present a screening of Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) in celebration of the classic’s 75th anniversary. The tribute will also feature the general public screening of a newly restored version (from the 1954 negatives) of the live action adventure, 20,000 Leagues under the sea, to be presented by legendary actor Kirk Douglas.
It should be noted that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is Walt Disney’s first hand-drawn full length animated film, and considered as one of the key projects responsible for putting the studio’s name on the map, and for demonstrating animation’s viability as a legitimate art form and a commercially feasible entertainment vehicle. The screening will be held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Saturday, April 14 at exactly 1 PM.
