Walt Disney has released a new image from Tim Burton’s upcoming stop-motion adventure film Frankenweenie, and in it, we see the film’s young protagonist Victor looking down at his pet dog Sparky. Of course, if this is the first time you’ve heard about Burton’s latest project, you may be wondering what is wrong with Victor’s dog. As the title implies, the dog is dead and only brought back to life, similar to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein Monster.
Frankenweenie was originally a live action short that Burton made back in 1984. This new iteration is different, because aside from the fact that it’s going to use Burton’s trademark stop motion animation techniques, the film is going to be a full length adaptation.
Frankenweenie will feature the voice talents of Christopher Lee, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara and Martin Landau. The film is scheduled for a UK release on October 2012.
