Thomas & Friends: The Great Race Debuts New Character, Yong Bao

Last Sept 22, Mattel debuted the family CGI feature-length special Thomas & Friends: The Great Race across China, covering 23 provinces and more than four thousand cinemas. One notable factor in the theatrical debut is the introduction of the franchise’s first Chinese character, Yong Bao. The film will see Thomas go on a new adventure at the Great Railway Show, where he comes across a bunch of new characters that represent other countries including Yong Bao of China, Axel of Belgium, Raul of Brazil, Ivan of Russia, Etienne of France, Gina of Italy, Rajiv of India and Shane of Australia among many others.

Thomas & Friends: The Great Race has been released in Mandarin-dubbed format, with translation and dubbing provided by Huaxia Film Distribution Co. Ltd. The feature will continue to screen until China’s Golden Week in October. The feature has already enjoyed successful theatrical releases in several other countries, such as the United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, and for the first time ever, Italy.
