Underwater, the fish don’t stink. It’s not just a statement, it’s a life lesson that could have only come from a single source; Bobby’s World. With that amazing theme, the distinctive voices, and the unlimited story-driven potential of imagination, Bobby’s World was an awesome cartoon. The series boasted nearly a 10 year run on Fox Kids (before there was a Toonzai, a 4Kids, or even a FoxBox) daily programming block. Animated by Film Roman and Alevy Productions, Bobby’s World spanned over 80 episodes, earning numerous awards and notices. Despite ending production nearly 15 years ago, could this show be in line for a relaunch…?
Bobby’s World starred, of course, Bobby Generic, whose overactive imagination offered various twists and skews on everyday boredom. Howie Mandel (yes, that Howie “Deal or No Deal” Mandel) provided Bobby’s voice and many of the story ideas, while John Tesh (yes, that John “Entertainment Tonight” Tesh) crafted the theme song, along with Michael Hanna.
Popular demand has kept the toon airing in a number of markets, like Fox Family, and including outlets via Saban International and Taffy Entertainment over the years. There have been DVDs made available (“Classic Scratch ‘n’ Sniff Episodes” and “The Signature Episodes”) as well as a video game way back on the Super Nintendo SNES system.
With a booming retro-reach for modern toons (see recent revivals and remakes like Transformers Prime, Nickelodeon’s new Winx Club, etc.) as well as Howie Mandel’s recent surge of popularity in the game show world, there has been a rising clamor to get some new episodes of Bobby’s World. Mandel, himself, expressed interest in the subject, and has stated online that new episodes could very well be in production.
In the meantime, at least we can see Bobby is still around and kicking, even meeting up with Howie on the set of Deal or No Deal.
So what do you think? You ready to have them bring back Bobby’s World?
