The ToonOlympics competition continues today with our 5th match of the second round. The matchup is between United Kingdom and Brazil. The cartoon from United Kingdom is called Dreamland (Doctor Who). Dreamland (Doctor Who) had a first round bye and is going up against a Brazilian cartoon series called Escola pra Cachorro (Doggy Day School), which defeated Russia’s Mountain of Gems in the first round.

Dreamland (Doctor Who)
Dreamland (Doctor Who) is the fifth animated Doctor Who serial (based on the British science fiction television live action series) to air on television, and the second to air after the revival of the live-action series in 2005. It stars David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and aired in six parts (one 12-minute episode, followed by five 6 minute episodes) broadcast daily from 21 November 2009 on the BBC’s Red Button service, the official Doctor Who website and the BBC iPlayer. It was broadcast in its entirety on BBC Two and BBC HD on 5 December 2009.
There have been four prior animated stories: Death Comes to Time, Real Time, Scream of the Shalka and The Infinite Quest.

The 6-episode storyline covers the following plot:
America, 1958. The Doctor makes a new friend, Cassie, who reveals that anyone approaching the Top Secret Dreamland Army base goes missing. Dreamland will see the Doctor arrive at the infamous alien hot spot, Roswell, New Mexico (Area 51).
During a visit to a local diner he stumbles upon a mysterious alien artefact that leads him on a mission to rescue Rivesh Mantilax from the threat of the Viperox and the clutches of the American military. The Doctor discovers an alien army hatching beneath the New Mexico desert while inside Dreamland, survivors of an extraterrestrial war possess a weapon powerful enough to destroy Earth.

Escola pra Cachorro (Brazil) (Translated to “School for Dogs”)
Escola pra Cachorro (Doggy Day School) is an animated series for children produced by producers Mixer Studios (Brazil) and Cite-Amerique (Canada). The episodes show five puppies who spend the day in a “nursery” for animals, where they play, learn and make many friends. The animated series is broadcast by Nickelodeon in Brazil. The Mixer Studios announced a new season with 26 new episodes, and DVD’s with episodes and a line of toys. In the second season, there will also be new animals: a parrot and a hamster.
Escola pra Cachorro (Doggy Day School) is a 2D animated series aimed at children aged 3 to 6 and featuring all kinds of dogs who get to know, understand and appreciate their differences, while having fun at the Nursery Waf Waf!
Daycare Waf Waf’s like the second home of an adorable and happy group of pooches and their instructor, Rosie. Each morning, the owners let the dogs at day care, before rushing to work back and forth to look for the evening. Meanwhile, the dogs play together, learn about the world around them and although being lured into bad situations, they always come out unscathed.
The main characters of the series are young dog breeds, coat and sizes, each distinguished by personality traits: shy, stubborn, fiery, capricious, tanning, cute. In the episodes that have as a backdrop, diversity and tolerance, the characters discover that their differences can be fun and thus, they play lots of games.
Lucas – Lucas, the main character, is a small Dalmatian who hates water and loves to run. He is a White Dalmatian with gray flecks.
Lili – Lili is a poodle who loves to jump. She is vain and very chic. She is a great friend, although sometimes she can be a bit snobby.
Koda – Koda is a Siberian husky who loves to play. One day, he turned into Super Koda, a superhero with a cape. He is also very intelligent, although that sometimes gets in the way of the other dogs.
Pedro – Pedro is a basset hound that is in the shape of a square. He can be a real glutton. Peter ends up being very sincere, but can spoil the fun of others or hurt them unintentionally.
Suki – Suki is a large, brown shih-tzu. She is a great friend, compassionate, and loves everyone. When something goes wrong, she talks about it, and makes everyone happy again.
Rosie – The owner of the day school.
