ToyTalk’s In the Movies Casts the Audience as the Star of the Show
Family entertainment company ToyTalk has just announced their debut project, dubbed ‘The Winston Show,’ with the latest sketch being titled “In the Movies.” The sketch is notable because it casts the audience as the star of a movie, which opens up doors to an entirely new kind of interactive play for children where the characters on the screen can listen and respond to what the viewer.
ToyTalk is a fairly new name in the industry, but it’s status as a fresh name belies the top creative and technical talent making up the company, most of which are veterans who have come from big name companies such as Pixar and SRI. ToyTalk is proud of being the first ever company to take advantage of speech recognition and artificial intelligence in order to provide a truly interactive viewing experience.
The Winston Show launched in the iTunes Store last September 2013 and quickly became the store’s #1 app in Entertainment. Since launch, kids have said over two million things to the characters spending an average of 30 minutes a week with the show.
“After launch, we immediately noticed something really interesting – our audience was engaging with The Winston Show in a half hour block on the weekend, more like they would with television than a traditional iPad app,” said ToyTalk founder and CEO, Oren Jacob. “So this winter we’ve doubled the show’s content to nearly 12 hours to give families regular new ways to engage with The Winston Show every week.”
