Wallace & Gromitt Ride Opens in BlackPool

Fans of Wallace & Gromit who are looking for a place to visit on their vacation would do well to include Blackpool, UK’s Pleasure Beach amusement park on their itinerary, since a new Wallace & Gromit-themed family ride is scheduled to open in the park in 2013.

The Wallace & Gromit ride is called “Thrill-O-Matic,” and will take fans on a journey through the worlds of popular W & G episodes such as A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Matter of Loaf and Death, and A Close Shave. The ride is estimated to cost 5 million GPB (roughly $7.8 million US).

The fun Thrill-O-Matic gives does not stop when the ride ends, since it will exit through a 175 square meter gift shop that stocks exclusive Wallace & Gromit merchandise, including a bespoke Thrill-O-Matic range, as well as other Aardman-related products for fans of all ages.

Nick Park, creator of Wallace and Gromit, said: “We are really enjoying working with the Pleasure Beach team on this new ride and new format for Wallace and Gromit and can’t wait to get started on building all the props and set pieces.”
