Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s The LEGO Movie made big waves at the box office earlier this year, thanks to a refreshing take on a popular toy brand, the inclusion of iconic DC characters, and a genuinely hilarious and affecting story. Now, Warner Bros. is preparing to do it all over again as they have just announced two new additional films set in the same LEGO-inspired universe.
According to Warner Bros.’ announcement, the two new LEGO films will be released on the Memorial Day weekends of 2018 and 2019. No details have been released yet story-wise, but it has been confirmed that the second LEGO movie will be directed by Chris McKay with Lord and Miller acting as co-producers. There third LEGO movie for, while dated for 2019, is not set in stone as its chances of being realized will still depend on the success of the second LEGO movie and the upcoming LEGO Ninjago feature, which is scheduled to debut on September 23, 2016.
