Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has recently launched the kid-targeted, free to play online world called Cartoon Universe. The persistent online venue will offer a safe, social environment where children can go on adventures, solve puzzles, and play games with popular Warner Bros. cartoon characters.
Developed by WB Games Montreal, Cartoon Universe is expected to feature characters from the Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo! franchise, with more on the way. The kid-centric MMO may follow the popular freemium business model, which means the game is free to play, but there will be an in game store that allows users to purchase enhancements or extra content.
Currently in Beta, Cartoon Universe is scheduled to launch in the North American market by fall 2012, and in select international markets the following year. The online persistent world will be regularly updated with content rollouts as well as seasonal events for loyal players. Those who want to get into the Beta (North American users only, sorry!) can sign up now at www.cartoonuniverse.com
