WATCH: Spy Kids: Mission Critical Trailer
We previously shared the news that the first 10 episodes of Spy Kids: Mission Critical would be hitting Netflix on April 20th. Now the streaming giant has finally unveiled the first trailer for the series:
The show follows brother and sister team Juni and Carmen Cortez as they attend Spy Kids Academy, a top secret spy school for kid agents. When a new counter-spy agency threatens the safety of the world, it will be up to junior spies Juni and Carmen to train and lead a team of fellow Spy Kids cadets against the forces of S.W.A.M.P. (Sinister Wrongdoers Against Mankind’s Preservation) and their diabolical leader, Golden Brain. The Mission Critical team may not be ready, but they are the only ones to call when grown-up spies can’t do the job!
Based on the Spy Kids live-action films, the animated series was created by Michael Hefferon and Sean Jara, with lead writing responsibilities handled by F.M. DeMarco. Robert Rodriguez and Bob Weinstein serve as executive producers. The series is produced by The Weinstein Company with animation done by Rainmaker Entertainment. The first season consists of 20 episodes.
Rodriguez directed the four live-action Spy Kids theatrical films between 2001 and 2011. Collectively, the franchise has grossed over $550 million worldwide.
You can queue up Spy Kids: Mission Critical ahead of its Friday debut here.
