WordGirl Fights Bullying on PBS Kids Go!
The Emmy award-winning kids series WordGirl is scheduled to devote an episode to teaching kids how to stand against bullying. The one hour episode, entitled “The Rise of Miss Power”, will feature the voice talent of Glee’s Jane Lynch, and will tackle the subject of words’ ability to both help and harm people. The episode will air on PBS Kids GO on February 20, 2012.
“The Rise of Miss Power” features intergalactic visitor Miss Power visiting Earth and promising to teach WordGirl everything she knows about fighting crime. However, the lessons Miss Power gives don’t work so WordGirl and her sidekick Captain Huggy Face starts wondering whether Miss Power is a hero or a villain.
“WordGirl resonates with children and parents because of its humor, its engaging characters and its robust curriculum,” says Deborah Forte, president of Scholastic Media and the show’s exec producer. “This special provides a unique opportunity to understand just how powerful words can be – entertaining and engaging fans in a way only WordGirl can.”
