Wreck-It-Ralph Games Will Be Nintendo-Exclusives
Disney’s upcoming videogame-related CG feature, Wreck-it-Ralph, features cameos a number of established videogame characters from different gaming companies, but there’s a recent announcement stating that games that are based on the Wreck-It-Ralph movie will only appear on Nintendo’s systems.
Now, we’re not surprised that Nintendo would do such a thing – after all, it was their draconian third party policies that let them establish dominance in the market during the NES days, but it’s surprising that Disney went along with it, even though the company has a healthy and lucrative relationship with other developers and console makers (with their most successful videogame franchise to date being the Kingdom Hearts series, which is a partnership with Square and is not exclusive to Nintendo systems)
There’s also no word on whether the exclusivity deal was initiated by Nintendo or offered by Disney. And whether it has anything to do with King Koopa’s (okay, Bowser) appearance in the film.
