WWE Slam City to Air on Nicktoons’ Nicksports TV Block
Nickelodeon has just announced that the WWE’s animated kids’ property, WWE Slam City, will be debuting on the network via their NickSports programming block at 9 to 11 pm (ET.) The series consists of 26 x 2 minute episodes showcasing stop-motion animated versions of WWE’s most famous superstars, including John Cena, Randy Orton, Sheamus, The Miz, Rey Mysterio, Kane, Mark Henry, and others.
WWE Slam City’s main storyline focuses on a new character, dubbed “The Finisher,” who will fire all of the WWE Superstars, sending them to WWE Slam City in order to find dayjobs. John Cena finds new work as an auto mechanic, while Randy Orton works as a zookeeper and Sheamus gets by as a theater usher. With new career challenges, the WWE Superstars do their best to stay true to their WWE personas and tackle work hardships head-on.
“This exciting partnership will allow us to bring WWE’s passionate fan base to the NickSports programming block while also creating new WWE fans through Nickelodeon’s massive audience,” said Michelle D. Wilson, Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer, WWE. “WWE programming reaches 3 million kids each week and we’re sure they’ll be excited to watch WWE on Nicktoons.”
“True to the spirit of the NickSports programming block, WWE Slam City offers kids and their families a fun, fresh way to experience these exciting WWE Superstars, and the series is a great complement to our diverse, and ever expanding, sports lineup,” said Keith Dawkins, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Nicktoons, TeenNick and Nick Jr.
