Takara Tomy has announced the broadcast date for its upcoming Zoids reboot Zoids Wild. Produced by Pokemon and Beyblade Burst studio OLM, the new series will debut on MBS and TBS stations in Japan on July 7th at 6:30 AM, as we previously theorized.
Alongside the show’s launch date, the two companies also began streaming a new 15-second teaser for the show:
The series will follow two factions on a desolate Earth in the year 20XX. Freedom, a young team tied together by their bonds with their Zoids, and Death Metal, an empire that controls Zoids by force, compete in fierce life-and-death battles for survival. The cast includes Kensho Ono as Arashi, Takahiro Sakurai as Bacon, Takahiro Sakurai as Bacon, Mikako Komatsu as Penne, Etsuko Kozakura as Onigiri, Subaru Kimura as Gyoza and Kaito Ishikawa as Drake.
Zoids Wild will be directed by Norihiko Sudo, with scripts written by Mitsutaka Hirota. Yūki Matsuoka is on as sound director, while Noriyuki Asakura is composing the score.
Originally a line of motorized model kits dating back to the 1980s, Zoids is celebrating its 35th Anniversary this year. Takara Tomy is supporting the relaunch in a massive way. In addition to the new model kits and TV anime, a manga series in CoroCoro Comic, a Nintendo Switch video game, a smartphone app, and loads of other tie-in merchandise. At the announcement of the revival, the company stated they intended to release the new take globally.
