Disney’s heartwarming family comedy, Planes, revved up with high-flying action and adventure, lands in homes and mass retailers nationwide on November 19th. This endearing underdog story about a crop dusting plane named Dusty with sky-high dreams touches down on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and On-Demand featuring a cargo hold full of exciting bonus features. Guaranteeing hours of fun, Planes is the perfect gift for “ladies and gentle-planes” of all ages this holiday season.

Now that you know how Dusty makes it to the “Wings Around The Globe” Race, we can skip covering that part and just tell you that this is a very well-crafted movie for people of all ages. The old-timer that helps train a cropduster to be a racer is the only similarity between Planes and Cars. In fact, I am not sure why Cars was brought into the marketing for this movie. This movie could have taken flight on its own merit. They could have even named it something that would make more sense to the story, like “Dusty Earns His Wings” or “Around The World at 100 Feet”, but you know how Disney likes those one word titles. Frozen, Brave, Tangled, Planes. Anyone see a trend here?

Truthfully, after seeing this movie, and with everything else offered on this Blu-Ray, I have to say this will be one of those movies that I will watch over and over again. It starts off strong, never disappoints, and it moves with a solid purpose through to the end. I agree with Sinbad. I would watch this movie by myself, with no kids around. Or, I could watch it with the whole family and share a special story about a plane that is determined to be more than what the world expects of him.

Directed by Klay Hall (King of the Hill, The Simpsons), produced by Traci Balthazor-Flynn (Return to Never Land, Bambi II, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning) and written by Jeffrey M. Howard (Tinker Bell, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue), Planes flew to the top of the U.S. box office this summer, holding altitude as the #1 family movie in America four weekends in a row.

I am a Big Fan of all types of animation. Like a lot of things, the cream always rises to the top. My favorites have included Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels, anything Pixar, Phineas and Ferb, Voltron Legendary Defender, and the DC/WB Animated Films. I have a lot of Old School favorites as well, such as Star Blazers, Voltron, Looney Toons, Tom & Jerry, and Scooby Doo.
