Free to Play Pokemon Game on the Way: The Thieves and the 1,000 Pokemon
A new free-to-play game titled The Thieves and the 1,000 Pokemon has been released for the Nintendo 3DS as a way of heralding the upcoming movie Pokemon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction. The game takes advantage of the handheld’s StreetPass feature in order to befriend and collect Pokemon. Said collected Pokemon can then be used to combat a band of thieves and their own Pokemon.
The main tie-in to the film is that the villainous thieves will be appearing in the anime movie. To see the game in action, you can check out the trailer below:
Additionally, players of The Thieves and the 1,000 Pokemon should bring it to the movie theaters showing Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction to get something special. Owners of Pokemon X and Y will also get a bonus when they take their handhelds and game to the film.
The Thieves and the 1,000 Pokemon can be downloaded for free from the Japanese eShop from June 5 to September 30, while Pokemon the Movie: Diancie and the cocoon of Destruction will be premiering in Japan on July 19.
