If you’re one of the few Pokemon fans who believe that the franchise needs to evolve without changing genres, you’ll be glad to know that developers Game Freak have recently published a New Year’s greeting card in Nintendo Dream magazine in Japan, with the card containing a brief message from the studio.
According to the Pokemon Memo, the message basically states that Game Freak has plans to work toward evolving the Pokemon world in the year 2013. No further details were provided, so we have no idea what they mean by evolve. For all we know, they’re probably just going to use a fully 3D engine for the next games, instead of the current top down sprites on a 3D world.
Lots of fans also believe the battle system could use an improvement. Maybe bells and whistles type improvements – it doesn’t need to be turned into realtime (otherwise it’s going to become a fighting game, and that’s changing genres. If you just want a change in genre, the spin off games already have you covered)
