It’s been 21 years since the Pokemon franchise was first launched, and various companies connected to the franchise and promotions have decided to celebrate the milestone with a number of promotions and special events. First of which is Niantic’s ARG game Pokemon Go, which has decided to turn all of the Pikachu’s you will encounter in the wild into a Pikachu wearing a special party hat. The nifty event will last until March 6 at 1 pm PST. The big deal is that any party hat-wearing Pikachu you catch during the event will retain the hat forever, even after the event is over. This makes them special and rare.
Another celebratory event consists of the Pokemon Center releasing a new set of Gallery Figures collection, which includes figures of Eeevee, Mew, Magikarp, and Pikachu. All figures are remarkably detailed and feature the Pokemon busting out their trade mark attacks.
Pokemon TV – which is available on Pokemon.com and the Pokemon TV mobile apps – will also be joining in on the celebrations with a movie marathon. For a limited time, fans will be able to stream Pokemon: The First Movie, Pokemon 4Ever, and Pokemon – Zoroark: Master of Illusions.
The official games are not to be left out, though, as the Pokemon Sun and Moon versions will entitle players to grab a Bottle Cap item from participating Gamestop branches. These strength-boosting items will be available until March 5.
Other Pokemon festivities include bonuses in Pokemon Trading Card Game Online, a Pikachu Yellow Edition variant of the Nintendo 3DS XL, Pokemon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel being released on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Video, and a special Pokemon the Series: Gold & Silver TV episode bundle.
