This coming October 19, Cartoon Network will be hosting a special Pokemon animation event in celebration of the worldwide release of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y on the Nintendo 3DS portable game console. The event features the debut of Pokemon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened followed by a sneak peek of the newest season of the animated series Pokemon the Series: XY, which as the name suggests is set in the world introduced in Pokemon X and Y.The event also features an encore presentation of Pokemon the Movie: Kyurem vs. the Sword of Justice.

Pokemon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened focuses on Five Genesects that have invaded the big city and started threatening its power supply, which attracted the attention of the legendary pokemon MewTwo. It is then up to Ash, Pikachu, and the gang to come to the rescue when the Genesects’ powerful leader, Red Genesect, confronts MewTwo. The movie is notable for featuring the first appearance of MewTwo’s Mega-evolved form, Mega Mewtwo.

In other Pokemon news, the current Pokemon animated series on Cartoon Network – Pokémon: BW Adventures in Unova and Beyond – will have new Pokemon and characters from the X and Y games introduced starting on October 12, coinciding with the games’ release. These new Pokemon include Alexa, Gogoat, Helioptile, and Noivern. You can check out the preview video below:
