We have previously reported that the release of Pokemon X and Y in some areas of the US were affected by the government shutdown, but as the universe’s way of reminding us that our country is just a small part of the world – Nintendo is now reporting that the release of Pokemon X and Y is a complete success, having pushed over 4 million units worldwide since its release, and it’s still climbing.
The figures cited come from the sales figures across Japan, Europe, and America as of Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13. Nintendo has also noted that a vast majority of retail outlets in Europe are actually closed on Sundays. So far, the numbers point to the X and Y series already selling almost half as many copies as the total sales of the other Pokemon games did since 2002 (the total global sales for the least successful series, Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen, to date is 12 million).
