The Powerpuff Girls Return with a New CG Special
2013 will mark the return of the Powerpuff Girls to Cartoon Network. As part of the studio’s push to bring back popular franchises alongside new quality content, Cartoon Network will be releasing a new Powerpuff Girls Special, with brand new, redesigned, and re-imagined CG animation breathing new life into the storied franchise.
The Powerpuff Girls, created by Craig McCracken, originally ran on the Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2005, serving as one of the animated adventure comedy shows that helped propel the network into the top. The return of the Powerpuff Girls in 2013 will have them being called upon to rescue not just the city of Townsville, but the USA and the world.
The CG special will feature an original song from Beatles legend Ringo Starr, titled “I Wish I Was a Powerpuff Girl.” Starr will also be voicing a character in the show, namely Townsville’s most famous mathematician, Fibonacci Sequins. The special also features the original voice cast reprising their iconic roles and will premiere later this year.
