Toya Delazy to Voice a New Powerpuff Girl
These past few days, the Internet has been buzzing with rumors that there will be a fourth Powerpuff Girl, due to a leaked image showing the three girls with another character that seems to be drawn similar in a similar style, with two notable differences: a darker skin color and neon blue hair. Fans have taken it to mean that the trio will be adding a fourth member soon.
And while the rumors have yet to be confirmed officially, an unofficial confirmation has appeared via South African singer/songwriter Toya Delazy, who has revealed that she will be voicing a new additional character for five special episodes, including one titled “Power of Four” which seems to point towards the Trio finally turning into a Quartet (of course, one shouldn’t forget the other fourth Powerpuff Girl, Bunny.) The episode will be premiering on Sunday, September 17 at 5:30 PM.
“I have always dreamed of being the voice of a cartoon character. Never did I think I would be recording a voice-over as the new Powerpuff Girl for Cartoon Network, though!” commented Delazy. “In a nutshell, Cartoon Network was my childhood. The shows were always quirky, expressive, creative and cool! I have always appreciated how creative the channel is, even to this day. Watching Cartoon Network really opened my mind as a child, and for me the channel still represents creativity in all aspects of the word. The shows are bold, unexpected, energetic and exciting—definitely a brand that I can identify with and relate to.”
It is worth noting that Toya Delazy is a veteran of the franchise, having performed a localized version of the Powerpuff Girls theme song for the African market:
