WB Planning an Animated Scooby Doo Film

This will be good news to people who are fans of the Scooby Doo franchise but hated the live action adaptation: Warner Bros. has recently announced plans to produce a new film based on the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? franchise with Tony Cervone (Space Jam, The Looney Tunes Show, Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated) helming the project. The difference this time around is that the film will not have any live action parts. It’s going to be 2D all the way, baby.

The new Scooby Doo movie will be produced by American Hustle duo Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, with other names being bandied about consisting of producer Allison Abbate, exec producer Dan Povenmire (of Phineas and Ferb!) and screenwriter Matt Lieberman. The film will be released under WB’s Warner Animation Group banner. The studio is targeting September 21, 2018 as the release date.
