New Shrek Movie Planned

The last Shrek Movie, Shrek Forever After, only grossed $239 million dollars at the domestic box office back in 2010. That’s a respectable take for most movies, but considering the take of its predecessors, it’s a disappointment for the studio. So it’s a surprise that DreamWorks is planning to revive the franchise via a new installment to the series.

DreamWorks’ CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg has recently talked about a new Shrek film, and seemed confident about the prospect of reviving the franchise:

“We like to let them have a little bit of time to rest,” says Katzenberg. “But I think you can be confident that we’ll have another chapter in the Shrek series. We’re not finished, and more importantly, neither is he.”
