Fox revives The Flintstones, via Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane
For nearly a decade, Seth MacFarlane has been one of animation’s most powerful forces. Outside of the Simpsons, he represents Fox’s Animation Domination, with Family Guy, the Cleveland Show, and American Dad. He’s also worked on various shorts, Robot Chicken, even Star Wars specials. Now, along with 20th Century Fox Television and Warner Bros. Television, the gang will revive the Flintstones for an all new, old era (modern prehistoric?). Set to hit the small screen in 2013, the Flintstones and the Rubbles will again don their animal skins, roaming around Bedrock in search of adventure. MacFarlane plans to add new sight gags to the series, as an homage to the original Hanna-Barbera toon, such as prehistoric iPads. The reboot has plans to address Fred and Wilma on the big screen as well, building steam through the new animated series. Yabba Dabba Doo!
“The Flintstones are among the funniest and most beloved characters in television history, and we can’t wait to introduce them to a whole new generation on Fox. FOX has long been home to iconic families like the Simpsons and the Griffins, so I have no doubt that the Flintstones and the Rubbles are going to fit right in on our air.” –Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.
