A Major Simpsons Character will Die
The Los Angeles Times has reported that a major character from the long running animated sitcom The Simpsons will die during its 25th season, based on a statement made by executive producer Al Jean during a conference call with reporters last week.
“We’re actually working on a script where a character will pass away,” Jean reportedly said. “I’ll give a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is.”
Of course, the hint is pretty much useless because almost every member of the core voice cast has already won an Emmy for their role as their respective characters, including Dan Castellaneta (Homer, Barney, Krusty), Julie Kavner (Marge, Patty, Selma), Hank Azaria (Apu, practically everyone else on the show), Nancy Cartwright (Bart) and Yeardley Smith (Lisa). It is worth noting that this is not the first time that a non-guest character has passed away in the series, as Ned Flanders’ wife Maude passed away.
