The Simpsons Tackles Illegal Movie Downloads in January

This coming January 5th, 2014, The Simpsons will be relying on some of the hottest comedic actors in Hollywood today, including luminaries such as Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow, Leslie Mann, Will Arnett, Channing Tatum and Judas Priest’s Rob Halford in order to tackle a topic that’s relevant to Hollywood’s interests: online piracy of copyrighted content.

Titled “Steal This Episode,” the show will find Homer being banned from Springfield movie theaters so it is up to Bart to teach him how to get around ban and still watch movies, by downloading movies illegally. Never one to let an opportunity pass by, Homer creates a backyard movie theater where he shows pirated movies to his friends free of charge. Out of guilt, Marge accidentally tips off the FBI to Homer’s exploits, leading to the entire family going on the run in order to escape the FBI.

“Judd Apatow, Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen have been looking for a project to do together for a long time. So we were happy to finally give them this opportunity,” said the show’s executive producer Matt Selman. “Will Arnett, Channing Tatum and Rob Halford never wanted to work together, so please don’t tell them they’re in the same episode.”
