Smurfs: The Lost Village Video Teaser Arrives

After releasing the first poster, Sony Pictures Animation has unveiled the 1st teaser trailer for its new fully-animated film Smurfs: The Lost Village. It follows Brainy, Smurfette, Hefty and Clumsy watchfully breaking the fourth wall, until a very hungry carnivorous flower intervenes.

The video shows how the refreshed CG characters and their fantastical forest world mirror the original art by Peyo. However, while the appearance is leaning towards classic, a distinct modern vibe can be sensed with Get Back by Ludacris as musical accompaniment.

The movie is an all-new take on the Smurfs where a mysterious map puts Smurfette and her friends Clumsy, Brainy and Hefty on a thrilling and exciting adventure through the Forbidden Forest which is packed with magical creatures in order to look or a mysterious lost village before the wicked wizard Gargamel does. Getting on a rollercoaster voyage full of danger and action, the Smurfs are on a path that leads to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history.

Written by Pamela Ribon and Stacey Harman, the film is directed by Kelly Asbury and based on the works and characters of Peyo. It is produced by Jordan Kerner and co-produced by Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews. The voice cast includes Rainn Wilson as Gargamel, Demi Lovato as Smurfette, Joe Manganiello as Hefty, Danny Pudi as Brainy, Jack McBrayer as Clumsy and Mandy Patinkin as Papa Smurf.

Smurfs: The Lost Village will be released in US theaters on April 7. 2017.
