One of the more popular topics at last week’s CinemaCon event in Las Vegas was Fox’s upcoming Peanuts feature, which the studio confirmed to be CG animated and in stereoscopic 3D. The studio has also confirmed that the film will be released in November 2015, in conjunction with the 65th anniversary of Charles M. Schulz’ original comic strip.
The animation for the Peanuts film will be produced by Fox’s regular partner Blue Sky Studios and directorial duties will be handled by Steve Martino (Horton Hears a Who!, Ice Age: Continental Drift). The Script will be written by Charles Schulz’s son, Craig, and his grandson Bryan. The film is a milestone because Schulz has always been reluctant to grant film licenses to his characters. But there have been several 2D animated features made for the strip, most of them having been re-released in either DVD or Blu-Ray these past few years.
