We’re less than two weeks away from the return of morning cartoons on network TV! We’ve covered the announcement, the shows you can expect to see, the website and some of the local promotions. However, there’s one burning question: what’s the KidsClick lineup going to be like? Well, you’re in luck. We managed to get a hold of the schedule and we’re able to share what you’ll see on the national feed on ThisTV everyday starting July 1st.

Weekends:
7:00 AM – RoboCop: Alpha Commando
7:30 AM – Sonic X
8:00 AM – Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures
8:30 AM – Scary Larry
9:00 AM – The Pink Panther and Pals
9:30 AM – Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures

Weekdays:
6:00 AM – Sonic X
6:30AM – Max Steel
7:00AM – Angry Birds Toons
7:30AM – Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir
8:00AM – Rocket Monkeys
8:30AM – Super 4

If you’re an early bird, you can catch the 2008 CG-animated Igor film at 5AM on ThisTV to kick off the launch on July 1st.

Zak Storm: Super Pirate and a few other shows are being held for later in the year. In exchange, the KidsClick lineup hosts the North American television debut of Scary Larry, a French-animated series about a group of classic monsters in a rock band. Yes, you read that right. It’s based on the Little Gloomy comic book series by Landry Walker and Eric Jones.

If you don’t have a ThisTV channel in your area, KidsClick will also air on select Sinclair-owned broadcast channels. Watch out, though, as the latter can air the block whenever they want, so it’s best to consult your local TV listings. Later this summer, the official KidsClick website will be updated so you can play games and watch video. There will also be mobile apps and options for devices like Roku.

Have you heard the good news? Cartoons are coming back to weekend AND weekday mornings on US network television! KidsClick is a brand new block of programming that you’ll be able to watch on TV and online. We here at Toonbarn are pretty excited for its launch and managed to grab a list of shows you can expect to see:

Remember, this is a preliminary lineup of shows. Some might air on day-1, some might air a little later. There might even be more series! The original press release stated KidsClick would include both long and short-form content. So far, we’ve only caught wind of the longer ones.

Looking at the lineup, there’s admittedly not a lot of new stuff. The Fox Box/4Kids TV/The CW4Kids/Toonzai/Vortexx staple Sonic X returns to US television. Cable shows, like Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, Super 4 and Rocket Monkeys get another lease on life. They’ve even managed to dig up RoboCop: The Animated Series, which is probably related to the fact the franchise is owned by MGM, one of KidsClick’s partners.

Intergalatic pirate adventures? Cool!

Zak Storm, from Zagtoon, is one of the shows coming to KidsClick.

The real standout is Zak Storm: Super Pirate. It’s the next series from Zagtoon, the creators of the aforementioned Miraculous, and Man of Action, the team behind Ben 10, Big Hero 6: The Series, Ultimate Spiderman and so many more!  The first thirteen episodes debuted internationally earlier in the year, but this marks its US debut.

KidsClick will premiere on ThisTV and select Sinclair-owned broadcast channels Saturday, July 1st. The block runs weekdays from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and on weekends weekends 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. ET/PT.

Got any requests for what you’d like to see on the block? Are you happy that Saturday morning cartoons are coming back? Leave a comment below!

SEGA and Sanrio have recently teamed up in order to launch the first ever Sonic the Hedgehog x Sanrio collection through select Sanrio stores and the online store at Sanrio.com. The initial line up will consist of 10” plushies with designs that blend SEGA and Sanrios trade mark characters, such as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Hello Kitty, Badtz-Maru, Chococat, and My Melody.

The second phase of the collection will feature plush and collectible vinyl figures from Toynami, with more details being announced later in 2017.

“SEGA and Sanrio both have a rich history in creating whimsical creative characters that transcend generations along with a loyal, dedicated fan base,” says Anoulay Tsai, licensing director, SEGA of America. “With 2016 marking Sonic’s 25th anniversary, we’ve stepped out of the box by creating innovative collaborations with iconic brands like Hello Kitty to reinforce the relevance, longevity and strength of our beloved blue hedgehog. We hope to surprise and delight our fans through our combined efforts.”

To support the partnership, the mobile game Sonic Dash will have a four-week in-game event that allows players to unlock Sanrio characters and use them to race through Sonic’s world.

“We are honored to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 25th anniversary and collaborate with SEGA to bring our characters together with Sonic and friends in his fantastic world,” says David Marchi, vice president, brand management and marketing, Sanrio. “We hope both our fanbases will love the product collections and the digital play during the limited-time mobile game event.”

Sega announced that they will be releasing Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice for the Nintendo 3DS on September 27. The announcement came via the 25th anniversary panel which is dedicated to the hedgehog, held during the year’s SXSW Gaming event and livestreamed on Twitch.

The launch was originally set for fall 2015 but Sega delayed the game into 2016 last fall and did not give specifics about a new release window at the time.

Sonic Boom Fire and Ice is the 3DS follow-up to Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal from 2014 and just like its predecessor, is based on the cartoon. Development was handled by Sanzaru Games. The previous 3DS outing of Sonic Boom fared better compared to the budding franchise’s weakly received Wii U Entry.

After 140 million games sold and a successful animated series, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is gearing up for its biggest year yet. In anticipation of his latest adventure, SEGA will be revealing characters for the brand-new Sonic Boom universe, which will include the first ever CG animated TV series debuting on Cartoon Network, a line of video games for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, as well as an extensive merchandising program. The list of the newest characters that will be introduced in both the video game and animated series include:

Perci: Perci is beautiful yet tough as nails; her street smarts and tough exterior allow her to be ready to protect the town when the time comes.

Salty: Salty is the self-proclaimed captain of the ocean. He is overly confident in his domain and does not care to take the opinions of others around him into consideration. His egocentric attitude is apparent, even though his words and actions are not always justified. In Salty’s world, it’s his way or the seaway!

Mayor Fink: Mayor Fink is a typical politician – a fast talker out of both sides of his mouth. Loud and confident, he feels in control no matter what the situation, even if he has no idea what he’s doing.

Fastidious Beaver: Fastidious Beaver is a fussy, uptight beaver with a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

To give you a glimpse of the upcoming TV series, SEGA has released a new behind the scenes trailer that includes interviews with key people behind the project, as well as footage that are meant for both fans and curious newcomers alike.

The reception for the new character designs for the upcoming videogame, TV show, and merchandise spin-off for Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Boom, was mixed. Some people found the designs workable, while some were indifferent, and an even bigger number felt that the redesign was awful and bordering on unnecessary. It turns out that the earlier designs were worse, as even Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka found them “traumatic.”

Bob Rafei, CEO of developer Big Red Button, relayed the experience to GameSpot:

“Early on, when we had our first review of all the crazy things we wanted to try, Iizuka-san came down to Los Angeles and looked through all the different concepts … I felt sorry for the guy because sometimes he couldn’t actually look at the screen … it was too traumatic seeing all the crazy stuff we wanted to do.”

Sonic the Hedgehog Fan Film Debuts at MAGFest 11

The recent MAGFest 11 saw the debut of Blue Cor Studios’ Sonic the Hedgehog fan film. Directed by Eddie Lebron (who was responsible for the Mega Man fan film that made the rounds last year), and featuring Jaleel White as the voice of Sonic, the 20 minute short should be a lot of fun for fans of the Sonic franchise (unless you hate “talking” Sonic.)

The live-action/CG hybrid fanfilm is cheesy, but the quality is still head and shoulders above most fanfilms out there. The action scenes and special effects are just on par with western super sentai shows, so if you enjoy the Power Rangers, Lebron’s Sonic the Hedgehog won’t turn you off. The fact that it’s long enough to be a TV pilot episode makes it so much better, when other fanfilm creators barely even break through the 5 minute mark or are content with just creating mock teaser trailers.

Sonic the Hedgehog 20th anniversary

It was way back in 1991 when Sega first premiered Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega Genesis. From that moment on, Sonic became the company’s most iconic mascot, knocking Alex Kidd from the title, and never looking back. From his first appearance as a dashboard toy in Rad Mobile, to his Sonic X animated series, battling with Dr. Eggman and Dr. Robotnik, meeting up with Tails and Knuckles, through Sega CD and Dreamcast, the Sonic Storybook series, and more — Sonic has been a blue blur of excitement for over 20 years. It’s no wonder Sega is making big strides for the Hedgehog’s 20th anniversary. Sonic Generations will help get this point across in a big way, as gamers can play through new and classic episodes as Classic Sonic or Modern Sonic. Will you guys be celebrating his big day at your house?

Sonic Generations celebrates Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog is fast, blue, and just about to turn 20 years old. In celebration of the big 2-0, Sega is bringing out what could possibly be the biggest Sonic game to hit consoles in the two decades he’s been here. The title, Sonic Generations, will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year, readying to pay homage to the storied history of Sonic. The levels are like throwbacks to earlier Sonic games, re-imagining classics like the Green Hill Zone as throwbacks to the Sega Genesis, the Dreamcast, and so many eras between and since. Courtesy of some plot-based time holes, there are also multiple Sonics to choose from; the classic “chubby” Sonic, and the modern “skinny” Sonic, each with their own strengths and paths. The concept merges old with new, 3D with 2D, and all types of super hyper amaze-o speed. Best of all, it looks awesome. Check it!

Sonic Colors has Sonic the Hedgehog back in business for SEGA

He’s blue and he’s fast. For most, that would be enough. But for Sonic, he also demand having one of the best video game franchises out there. For the past few years, he’s been a tad off on this quest, with a few too many lackluster hits. But with the recent launch of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and now the Nintendo Wii’s Sonic Colors, it looks like SEGA could have a big powerhouse on their hands again. The title brings back the excitement and speed of the first few Sonic titles back on Sega Genesis, and combines new abilities and brilliant level design for an all new, and awesome, feel. But as many experts and critics agree, this is the best full-title to bear the Sonic name since those same Genesis years, so you know Sonic Colors delivered big time. This year, SEGA ensures Sonic is more treat than trick

Halloween is infamous for bringing out devilish, frightening, and incredibly scary characters to our immediate attention. Most of the time, that’s a great thing. However, for what feels like the bast brajillion years, we’ve gotten a terrifying version of one of our more beloved favorites, without ever asking for or wanting it. The target? Sonic the Hedgehog. While the Sonic X toon lives on, the days of awesome Sonic video games feels like it has drifted to the distant past. Year after year, fans are excited for, then disappointed with, the latest SEGA has to offer. That is, until this year. A few weeks back, we got Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I – Sonic’s return to 2D glory. Now, coming up, we’re promised two more gems with Sonic Free Riders on November 4th and Sonic Colors on November 16th. With all these release dates circling the Halloween holiday, we can only hope its more of a treat than a trick!

SEGA West’s CEO, Mike Hayes, recently spoke out about Sonic’s recent past, the current state, and the near future, noting SEGA is “passionate about getting Sonic back up to the quality levels we’ve had historically.” The goal is to not only raise the fun, but spread the joy. Sonic 4 hit multiple consoles with the classic approach. Sonic Colors targets the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS interactive audience. Sonic Free Riders will play out for the XBOX 360’s Kinect when it hits stores in a week.

Could the days of Sonic Unleashed be long behind us…?
