South Park Nabs its Fifth Emmy

Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s long running animated comedy series South Park has been given an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program at the 2012 – 2013 Creative Arts Primetime Emmy Awards, courtesy of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. This marks the fifth time South Park has received an Emmy Award.

The episode that was given commendation was “Raising the Bar” which focuses on childhood obesity and features young reality show superstar Honey Boo-Boo. The series has also won the prestigious Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting.

If the Emmy Award win put you in the mood for South Park, you don’t have to worry because the series will return with ten brand new episodes for its 17th season, with the announced date being September 25, Wednesday, at 10 PM ET/PT on Comedy Central. Episodes are also available on SouthParkStudios.com, and exclusively in HD via XBOX Live, iTunes, Sony Entertainment Network, Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, and Samsung Media Hub.
