Sony Developing a New Animated Feature for Spider-Man
By now, you’ve most likely heard about the recent incident where a group of hackers managed to compromise Sony’s private data, leading to the release of tons of confidential data. The incident is a little bit outside the scope of Toonbarn (we mostly deal with just cartoons, superheroes, animation, and games) but one leaked information is right up our alley: it seems that Sony has several Spider-Man-related projects in the pipeline and one of them is an animated feature version.
The animated feature was in development with team behind The Lego Movie, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, serving as producers. The movie is said to be a comedy and there have been talks between Sony and Disney, which could have lead to Marvel Studios producing a new batch of Spider-Man movies while Sony retains creative control, marketing and distribution. Other discussions include the possibility of the wallcrawler appearing in Marvel’s upcoming adaptation of the Civil War storyline.
Unfortunately, the talks did not go anywhere. Sony is still developing their own slate of Spider-Man features, which includes the Venom and Sinister Six spin-off, along with ones focused on the women in Spider-Man’s life.
