Activision Signs on as Master Licensee for Spongebob Squarepants Videogames

Nickelodeon and Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, have recently entered into a new global, multi-year agreement over the development and publishing of videogames based on Nickelodeon’s hit animated comedy franchise, Spongebob Squarepants.

The first game birthed from the partnership is titled Spongebob Squarepants: Plankton’s Robotic Revenge, which is an all new action-adventure videogame scheduled for release on October 22 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Wii U systems. There will also be handheld releases for the Nintendo DS and 3DS systems. You can watch the trailer below:

“We are excited to expand our relationship with Activision for brand new SpongeBob video games,” said Sherice Torres, Senior Vice President of Entertainment Products, Nickelodeon Consumer Products. “Plankton’s Robotic Revenge captures the fun and excitement of SpongeBob and his pals, and gives fans a new way to experience the under the sea adventures of Bikini Bottom and its citizens.”
