Aren’t you a little 2D for a Stormtrooper? Well worry no more, Princess, because the days of 3D Star Warsing are here! Just this week, Lucasfilm Ltd., Twentieth Century Fox, and Industrial Light & Magic announced that all six Star Wars films are returning to theaters, completely reworked for the third dimension. First up is Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, ready to hit theaters on February 10th, 2012. The added 3D depth will truly allow the lightsaber battle between Darth Maul and the two Jedi to leap off the screen, with the background, of course, looking like a galaxy far, far away.
“Getting good results on a stereo conversion is a matter of taking the time and getting it right. It takes a critical and artistic eye along with an incredible attention to detail to be successful. It is not something that you can rush if you want to expect good results. For Star Wars we will take our time, applying everything we know both aesthetically and technically to bring audiences a fantastic new Star Wars experience.” -John Knoll, Visual Effects Supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic
