Season 1 of Star Wars Rebels, which is executive produced by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman, takes place five years before Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and follows the crew of the Ghost (Kanan, Hera, Sabine, Zeb and Ezra) in the early days of the fight against the Galactic Empire. Season 1 premiered on October 3, 2014 on the Disney Channel with a one-hour television movie called Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion. The full series, which had 13 episodes, then began on October 13th on Disney XD.

“Rebels Recon” which had previously been released on, includes a behind-the-scenes look into each week’s episode with interviews of the cast/crew interviews and it offered an exclusive clip for the next week’s episode. They were shot on location at Lucasfilm Headquarters in California and take about 5 minutes each and are fun to watch. (Especially the Q&A’s with Pablo Hilgado and the “Chopper Cam” clips).

Disc 2 has a in-depth sneak-peek look into Season 2 and the interview with Dave Filoni is very insightful as he explains some burning questions left over from Season 1 (i.e., What happened to Ezra’s parents?, Will Asoka meet up with her former Master?), which WILL be answered in Season 2. Sneak-peek clips for Season 2 introduce new villains and new characters, and bring back old fan favorites such as Captain Rex, Hondo Ohnaka, Lando Calrissian and Darth Vader.

“Star Wars Rebels: The Ultimate Guide” provides a full recap of the entire first season from Kanan’s perspective and is the best way to “catch up” and be up to speed and ready for Season 2, which premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 9:30 pm on Disney XD.

Make sure you stay tuned to ToonBarn for coverage of the Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Premiere event at New York Comic Con, Friday, Oct. 9, 2015.

I am a Big Fan of all types of animation. Like a lot of things, the cream always rises to the top. My favorites have included Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels, anything Pixar, Phineas and Ferb, Voltron Legendary Defender, and the DC/WB Animated Films. I have a lot of Old School favorites as well, such as Star Blazers, Voltron, Looney Toons, Tom & Jerry, and Scooby Doo.
