Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole makes box office debut

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole makes box office debut

This past weekend, a legend was born on the screen. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps!! No… wait. Well, OK, the Wall Street movie did come in first once all was said and done at the box office. But, more importantly to us, the Owls of Ga’Hoole got their time to shine as well, with Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole just missing the top spot in it’s first weekend at theaters. Pulling in just over $16 million dollars over the three day span, the film is running on a par with expectations, which predict the tale to catch on slowly, but pick up steam as it goes. Alpha and Omega, the other animated flick in the bunch, was down to 8th place in it’s 5th week at the box office. Have you seen either, both, or neither?

Lionsgate’s Alpha and Omega gets Kate and Humphrey in theaters today

Lionsgate's Alpha and Omega gets Kate and Humphrey in theaters today

The wait is over, the movie is here! Alpha and Omega is Lionsgate’s answer to the impossible love story. Maybe not as Shakespeareanly perfect as, say, Romeo and Juliet, but …well, that was Shakespeare! It’s an unfair advantage. Kate and Humphrey take a similar, but modern, approach. And, also, as wolves. Kate is an alpha wolf. Humphrey is an Omega wolf. The two do not belong together, should not hang out together, and certainly should not date each other. And, as long as they remain at home, Kate would never give Humphrey a chance. But when the two are wolf-napped and have to fight to get back home, they form a bond never thought possible between such different ranks. Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself! The CG (and of course 3D!) film hits theaters today, ready for a blockbuster weekend. Go watch!!

Alpha and Omega hits theaters in one week

Kate and Humphrey might both belong to the same wolf pack, but they’re on opposite ends of the social order at Canada’s Jasper National Park. Kate is of the regal Alpha side, daughter of the pack’s main alpha male. Humphrey… isn’t. He’s an Omega wolf, at the lowest end of the spectrum. Suddenly, humans intervene, and chaos ensues! Kate and Humphrey are both grabbed, sedated, and taken far away to the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Not only does this force them to have to find their way back home, it forces them to have to find it together! Never before had Alpha and Omega mixed paths like this, but Lionsgate is hoping this story, their latest CG animated flick due out next Friday September 17th, will begin a whole new world of love story. Check out the trailer!

Lionsgate offers sneak peek to Alpha and Omega

The film’s release date is September 17th. Today’s date is September 3rd. There’s a difference between the two, see? Well, it’s possible some theaters missed that little detail — that, or Lionsgate just wanted to give some fans a two-week early sneak peek at their CG animated film, Alpha and Omega. The wolf-based love story has it’s long awaited National release set for Friday, September 17th, but a number of ToonBarners have emailed us to say their local theater is running the flick tonight — you might want to check yours, in case you’re in for the same bonus! If anything, it’d be an easier task for you to find that out than it will be for Humphrey, the Omega, to get Kate, the Alpha, to notice him. But, if it weren’t a struggle, I guess it wouldn’t be a movie!

Rob Schneider to star in Lionsgate’s Norm of the North

Rob Schneider to star in Lionsgate's Norm of the North

While he did formerly star in The Animal, Rob Schneider is now taking that to a whole new level! The comedian and actor will be lending his voice to an upcoming CG animated film called Norm of the North, along with Ken Jeong and Loretta Devine. The Lionsgate and Crest Animation Studios film, of course featured in the now-standard 3D, is the second movie in a three-picture deal; the first of which being this year’s Alpha And Omega. Norm of the North is a story about a polar bear named Norm and his three lemming pals who make their way to NYC when their Arctic home begins to disintegrate. As global warming takes its affect, we’ll see how Norm makes it in his transition from the Big North to the Big Apple!
