Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D becomes ChipWrecked

Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D becomes ChipWrecked

Few things sound more enjoyable than taking a trip around the tropics on a luxury cruise ship. Unless, of course, there’s constantly the angry yelling of the phrase, “Alvin!!!” in the background. With that in mind, you’ll likely not want to board with Alvin, Simon, and Theodore this December, when they cast off in the latest 3D adventure, Alvin and the Chipmunks ChipWrecked. The film, formally titled Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D, follows the Chipmunks and the Chipettes (Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor) turning the cruise ship into their personal playground until they become shipwrecked on a desert island. As David Seville searches frantically, the 6 critters do their best waiting for rescue by singing, dancing, and generally rocking the island! Oh, and maybe there’s some buried treasure. We’ll see.

There was the original. There was the Squeakquel. Now, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are returning in a third film to the franchise titled Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. The trio return in an adventure on the high seas, also marking the return of the Chipettes. Formerly known as Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D, the new adventure stars the little rodents and their rocking misadventures, as long as David Seville (Jason Lee, once again) allows them to get away with it. The story follows the gang aboard the Carnival Dream’s recreation area, and a number of tropical stops, including one desert island that they all get stuck on. Maybe the ‘Munks can jam there…? Get ready for a new Underdog, Mr. Magoo, Casper, Rocky and Bullwinkle

Many toons have come and gone over the years, but few have remained “classic” in the true sense of the term. August Media Holdings and the properly named Classic Media group are hoping to dust off some true classics, breathing all new life into famous animated icons. Included in the mix are George of the Jungle, Underdog, Mr. Magoo, The Lone Ranger, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Richie Rich, and Little Lulu. Red Kite will handle many of the updates, which are essentially reinventions, in addition to testing the market for live-action hybrid movie possibilities, in the style of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Are you a fan of the originals, and do you want to see any changes to the toons? Sound off!!

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel DVD review

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel DVD review

Alvin and the Chipmunks is box office gold. Even if you yourself have not seen either film, you know 20 people who have. The first film brought in over $200 million dollars in the US when it came out in 2007, only to be surpassed by the Squeakquel with $220 million earlier this year. With a third film on the way in 2011, in the luxuriously priced 3D format, Fox absolutely has a winner on it’s hands. Even better, with the quick turn around for the sequel from theaters to DVD and Blu-ray, we now have the movie in our hands. So how does the film hold up in the home edition?
